Persona Templates

Persona-Sedcard - what is behind it, what data belongs in a Persona-Sedcard and how the templates help with the presentation, we reveal in this post.

Persona Sedcards and Persona Templates - What is it?

Personas - these are data-based representatives for your target group. But where do you find this data? This is where the persona profile comes into play. In the form of a persona-sedcard , it lists all relevant information about the persona.

Mostly, Persona-Sedcards look like a classic profile - with name, photo, demographic data, characteristics and hobbies. But you can also be creative with the persona sedcard. For example, you can make the persona profile look like a social media profile or a friends book entry.

The persona template determines how the persona profile is graphically displayed at the end. This is a design template in which you enter all the relevant information. Persona templates are useful when you create multiple personas. This way they can all shine in the same design and are particularly easy to compare. If you use two different templates, you may have to search for important data for a long time. But if you apply the same persona template, you will find the relevant information directly at a glance - always in the same place.

What data does a Persona-Sedcard contain?

A persona profile should contain all relevant data of the persona. In most cases, these are structured in the form of a profile, i.e. the information is written down in bullet points or in the form of short sentences. In addition, it is advisable to use a photo or a drawn picture. The brain can retain visually available information in the memory for a particularly long time. A graphically visualized persona with a photo is therefore easier to remember. When selecting an image, make sure to choose one that is as natural as possible. It should represent the stereotypical characteristics of the persona, but not become a caricature.

Optically, persona-sedcards are usually divided in such a way that the name and photo of the persona are visible at first glance. Immediately after that, important basic data catches the eye, e.g. demographic data such as age, gender, place of residence, marital status, education or profession. Other relevant information can be seen at third glance. Here, it depends on the individual project which data is included in the sedcard. A selection from the following data is suitable:

  • Personality and characteristics (e.g. extroverted, introverted, outgoing, impetuous, loner, chaotic, ...)
  • Interests and hobbies (e.g. sports, DIY, current affairs, literature, music, technology, ...)
  • Brand preferences and buying behavior (e.g. brick-and-mortar vs. online stores, consumer-oriented vs. minimalist, sustainable, fashionable, orientation towards stars/influencers, ...)
  • Media usage (e.g. print, online, television, radio, social media, preferred media providers, ...)
  • Relationship to the company and its products or services
  • Other information related to the company
  • Further personal information, e.g. political attitude, social class (e.g. according to Sinus Milieus), ...

The specific information you include in your persona profile depends on your persona and the associated project. An important guiding principle: The persona sedcard should make the persona's lifeworld understandable. So the point here is to create a balanced overview of the persona's characteristics and preferences. We have developed some sample sedcards for you.
