Chat GPT and Personas

An experiment: we asked Open AI's AI-based speech generator GPT-3 to write a program that generates data-driven personas . The results.

The task we have given the chatbot seems complex: it requires an understanding of what data-driven personas is. And the AI needs to understand what information personas contain and how to get that information. It also needs to show a certain amount of creativity when it comes to coming up with a process or method for creating personas.

But one thing at a time. Our task: "Write a code that automatically generates personas from data".

ChatGPT: Write a program for data-driven personas

This is what came out

Our conclusion: "Fascinating". Why?

  1. The AI knows what personas are, doesn't ask questions. Although personas come from UX programming/design, some programmers don't know the principle - and would rely on a detailed explanation.
  2. Because the AI could not access existing persona data, it invents sample variables and uses randomization to "make up" data.
  3. The AI provides not only the "code" but also its explanation. This solution has not simply been copied from an online source, but it is an original and complete solution, supplemented by explanations of its use.
  4. In conclusion, the AI even explains that it is better to use real data for data-driven personas to replace the pseudo data it provides, advises not to combine them randomly, and gives practical tips on how to implement the suggestion.

Persona-GPT: Chat with data-based personas thanks to Chat-GPT

Our little experiment from above convinced us that Chat-GPT should play a role in our persona development - but not in data collection, but in establishing personas in the enterprise: We built an interface that passes thepersona data to Chat-GPT and the AI bot responds as the persona. In other words, Chat-GPT puts itself in the shoes of data-driven persona and responds as that persona.
